15. Revelation

Vladimir and Dimitri have been burning the candle at both ends lately. On top of Bratva business, they took a personal interest in finding out who poisoned Karina and Aksana. Considering almost no one had direct access to them, Dimitri and Vladimir interrogated everyone at the estate and Aksana’s penthouse that could have done it.

When those leads came up dry, they sent out an order to the Russian Trackers for Aksana’s dealer and supplier. The trackers were good and worth every penny. The identity of the two men came back after a week. Apparently, the pair went into hiding after the news of Aksana’s stint in the hospital hit the news.

The men were brought to the basement to be properly interrogated.

“Where is my woman going every day?” Vladimir asked Dimitri after punching the dealer so hard he heard his nose snap. He was a young kid. Still in university. Vladimir didn’t even care to learn his name. He would be dead soon anyway.

Vladimir saw Karina scurrying out of the estate every afternoon for the past month in her shortest dresses, her highest heels, and her most expensive furs. The cold no longer seemed to faze her.

“Don’t worry she’s not cheating on you, boss,” Dimitri grinned, slicing designs up and down the supplier’s arm.

The men continued to cry, not knowing what they’d done to piss off the Bratva.

Vladimir frowned. That thought hadn’t even crossed his mind. “I’ll kill anyone who even thinks of bedding my woman,” he growled.

“Take it down a notch, I already looked into it. Evidently, Aksana —who insists on going by AK now—and Karina are spending their days training at the Armory,” Dimitri said referencing the name of the exclusive gun club open to members only.

“Dressed like that?” Vladimir’s eyebrows rose. He didn’t like other people ogling his woman. He needed to make an appearance and remind those horny bastards who she belonged to.

“Wait, is this about Aksana? I swear I had nothing to do with that.” The young guy spoke up, his voice laced with pain and fear.

Vladimir backhanded the younger man. “Shut up. Can’t you see grown men are speaking?”

Dimitri shrugged. “When I asked, they said it was so they would always be ready. I think it is good for them to know how to properly defend themselves.”

“I’m the king of the motherfucking Bratva. Everyone bows down to me and by extension them. They shouldn’t have to learn how to defend themselves if they’re always surrounded by bodyguards!” Vladimir roared.

His rage bubbled over and before he could think straight, he accidentally snapped the dealer’s neck. Vladimir took a deep breath trying to calm himself. His eyes glanced at the other man who shook uncontrollably in his chair. The supplier knew he was not long for this world.

Dimitri sobered at Vladimir’s rage. He shook his head at the limp body of the dealer. It was a million times harder to get answers if the informant was dead.

“Your sister was married to a sadistic psychopath. There’s no telling how much he fucked up her mind.
